Confused

Of course it can. Between my basic lifestyle setting and 10 hrs of sleep I burn more than that. It takes a lot of energy to keep a body working and alive. I don't see why it's not more than that. If you were burning only 1200 calories a day and wanted to lose 1 lb in a week that would put you at eating only 700 calories a day, and that would not be very healthy.

i do not think that it is possible to burn 1200 calories simply by sitting. This makes no sense. But i am pretty sure that you can gain 1200 calories simply by sitting. The less active you are the less calories you burn this is not a secret and plus if you have a couple sandwiches during a break this will double your calories. Now i am the one confused!

As Jedi said " It takes a lot of energy to keep a body working and alive". It easy easily possible, even if you are not a big person.
Even someone in a coma would burn calories. Albeit probably not quite that much but your body needs to consume calories to keep going.

Of course eating healthy is very important but physical activity also must not be underestimated. Your body must move to burn calories. However if you have a healthy diet that reaches to 1000 or less calories this may be true, in the opposite case i still you will gain calories.

Did you set up your profile in fitday with your height, etc.? It should take into account other factors such as whether you are sedentary/inactive.
A good rule of thumb (I read in Prevention) is that if you are inactive, the calories your body needs to maintain your weight is 10 calories per pound. That would mean that if your inactive lifestyle requires 1200 calories, you would weigh 120 lbs at the moment.
If that's the case, that you do weigh 120 pounds right now, then I guess you do just need 1200 calories to be inactive. Doesn't sound like much....

I'm 5ft 11 and 216lbs.
I think I set up my dashboard wrong. Is there any way to reset it and start again? As it's saying I need a lot more calories than I actually do, luckily I've realised this and just looked at my calorie intake and never gone over 2000, which I really don't find difficult.
After reading that I need 10 calories per 1lb, I calculated that I need just over 2000 calories a day if I'm sat around (which I have sometimes been after moving back to my home country from living abroad, so looking for work). I have rarely gone over 2000 calories in the last couple of weeks and I'm certain that I didn't before joining this site as I was losing weight all the time. I've also been weight training, vigorously, for at least 40mins a session, 7 sessions over a 13 day period. My weight will not move from 216lbs! I'm eating healthily as well.
