Vitamin D3 is an important vitamin in your body. In particular, vitamin D3 is important when it comes to bone health. Without vitamin D3, your bones will become fragile, and you could be susceptible to breaking bones more easily than if you were to get a healthy supply of vitamin D3. Therefore, you need to be very conscious about how to get vitamin D3, where to get vitamin D3 and why you need vitamin D3.

The Easiest Way to Obtain Vitamin D3

Though many Americans do suffer from vitamin D3 deficiency, the truth is that you can get access to vitamin D3 very easily. Sun exposure is the easiest way for your body to get access to vitamin D3. Many factors, including the time of the year and sunscreen that you may apply, can affect the amount of vitamin D3 that your body gets from sunlight. But, in general, if you get just five to ten minutes of sun a couple of times every week, your body should get enough vitamin D3 to sustain itself.

Other Ways to Get Vitamin D3

If you live somewhere that doesn't get much sun or you just can't get sunlight due to a skin condition, you may be wondering how you're supposed to get access to vitamin D3. Well, there are plenty of foods that you can add to your diet to get your daily dosage of vitamin D3. For instance, foods like herring, tuna, eggs and even some mushrooms are loaded with vitamin D3. Try eating these foods in order to get your daily dose of vitamin D3.

How Vitamin D3 Affects Bone Health

If you are not getting enough vitamin D3 in your diet or you are not getting enough vitamin D3 through the use of sunlight, your body will pay the price for it. Vitamin D3 deficiency in the body can be very harmful. Specifically, you can suffer from osteomalacia if you do not get enough vitamin D3. Osteomalacia is a bone-thinning disease that can be very painful in adults. In addition to osteomalacia, you are also more susceptible to osteoporosis if you have a vitamin D3 deficiency. Osteoporosis is a disease that causes your bones to become very fragile. This leaves your bones more susceptible to breaking easily and it can also be very painful for anyone that has it. Cancer, multiple sclerosis, high blood pressure and tuberculosis are just a few of the other ailments that may be a result of vitamin D3.

Getting Vitamin D3

If you believe that you are not getting enough vitamin D3 in your body, it's not too late to make some changes in order to avoid doing further damage. Try to set aside more time to spend in the sunlight. You don't need to spend hours in the sun, but you should make sure that you spend a few minutes every day or every other day soaking up sunlight, particularly when it's available. If this is impossible, try looking for foods or supplements in order to make sure you are getting enough vitamin D3. You want to make sure that you maintain good bone health, so make sure you're getting enough vitamin D3.
