Many people enjoy energy drinks, but some are starting to question whether they are really part of a healthy balanced diet. Energy drinks are high in sugar and aren't necessarily the best things for you. It's important to eat good food while exercising, as this will speed up weight loss and muscle growth.

Vitamins

Energy drinks which are marketed as being healthy will normally include vitamins and amino acids. These are beneficial for your body and can promote good health. However, they won't necessarily make up for the high amounts of sugar in the drink.

Caffeine

Energy drinks work by providing your body with a hit of caffeine. An energy drink will normally have more than three times the amount of caffeine in a can of Coke. Caffeine isn't particularly healthy, as it is a type of drug which you can become addicted to if not careful.

Sugar

Energy drinks are very sweet, and this is the biggest drawback to them. Sugar can cause tooth cavities and can also result in diabetes if consumed in very high amounts.

Choosing a Healthy Energy Drink

It's possible to compare the energy drinks and choose one that is healthy by looking at the sugar content on the labels. Try to choose one with as little sugar as possible.
