Squats are a great way to tone your backside, and you can lift the barbell off of your squat stand in order to get yourself started in this workout. When doing squats, be aware that they don't just do wonders for your backside; they also tone the muscles of your legs, hamstrings and hips. As a further bonus, squats provide extra strenth to your bones, tendons and ligaments throughout all of your lower body. In performing a squat, your form has to start in a standing position with the barbell over your shoulders. Begin by moving your hips back while also bending at the knees to lower your torso and the barbell. After lowering your body to where you are in the actual squat position, begin to raise yourself up again so that you return to the starting position.
If you want to tone your backside more effectively, you can also perform standing squats. All you need is an open space and light dumbbells in your hands. Stand in a neutral position with your feet shoulder width apart. Bend your knees so that you can lower yourself into the squat. Lower yourself only as far as you can without experiencing pain. Use your heels to press back up, keeping your toes touching the ground at all times. As you stand erect once more, make sure your chest stays straight.
