This Fitness Blogger Doesn't Shave Her Body Hair—and It's Totally Inspiring

When we think of fitness bloggers, the image of a woman with a perfect complexion, toned muscles and an even tan comes to mind, right? The image you're unlikely to have is of someone who has not shaved in more than a year. But Morgan Mikenas is breaking the mold of what a fitness blogger should look like, and what she's doing is reminding women that there is absolutely nothing wrong with embracing natural beauty.

Not shaving may seem like a strange thing to do, because for most of us waxing and shaving has become such a common part of our daily lives. Admittedly we may let our hair grow for a few days in winter when no one is ever going to see it, but we would never be comfortable enough to show our body hair to the world. Which is probably why everyone is taking note of Mikenas' story: She stopped shaving in 2016 after she realized that it was consuming too much of her time, and since throwing away her razors she's noticed something: her body hair is no longer prickly and itchy, instead it's surprisingly soft.

Mikenas is not ashamed of her body, and she wants to encourage others to feel the same way. According to Metro, she said, "I'm not trying to make all of humanity just stop shaving armpits and leg hair anymore. I just want to inspire others and what works for you, what makes you feel the most comfortable." In a bid to get her message out there, Mikenas shares her photos on Instagram (where she has almost 88,000 followers), along with empowering captions about how you should stop letting people "dilute or poison your day with their words or opinions."

Her goals in life are simple: She wants to be happy and healthy. And while she may not encourage women all over the world to bid farewell to their razors and wax strips, what she is doing is encouraging individuality and self-acceptance, and we can't even begin to comment on why this is so important.
