How to do Beach Double Toe Taps

Beach double toe taps are a great exercise that helps to improve the condition of the cardiovascular system. As with any new exercise, start out slowly, and gradually increase the speed and height at which you must lift your toes in order to make the exercise more challenging.

Beach double toe taps are a great form of cardiovascular activity that can be used as an alternative to more traditional forms of cardiovascular exercise, such as walking, jogging or biking. They can be altered to be relatively low in intensity, or revved up to really get your heart rate pumping. Unlike strength training exercises, which focus on increasing strength and toning your body, cardiovascular exercise helps to improve your cardiovascular health, thereby helping in the treatment and prevention of cardiovascular disease, stroke and even some types of cancer. In addition, research has found that cardiovascular exercise is the best way to lose weight or maintain an ideal weight.

Positioning Your Body for Beach Double Toe Taps

Beach double toe taps are simple to prepare for. To start, clear an area, making sure that there are no dumbbells or other pieces of equipment that could potentially interfere with your exercise. Stand tall in the center of the cleared space, with your feet spaced approximately one foot apart. Make sure that your toes are facing forward.

Performing Beach Double Toe Taps

Now that you are positioned properly, you can begin to perform the exercise. Start by taking a few deep breaths. Find a spot on the floor on which you can focus. This can be either just a spot that holds your eye, or you can actually put down a piece of tape, paper or other small mark to help you focus on. Lift your right foot off the ground, and touch your toe to the spot on which you are focusing. Bring it back to your starting position. Now, lift your left foot off the ground, and touch it to the spot on which you are focusing. Continue doing this for at least 30 seconds before taking a short break. Do another 30-second interval in order to achieve optimal results.

Increasing the Intensity of Beach Double Toe Taps

One great way to increase the intensity of this exercise is by increasing the rate at which it is performed. The faster you do the exercise, the harder your heart must pump, and therefore the more difficult the exercise will be. Another great way to increase the intensity of the exercise is by using a medicine ball as your spot on which you will focus. Touch your toe to the top of the medicine ball on each repetition. This forces you to lift your leg higher, again increasing the intensity of the exercise with each toe tap.
