3 Exercise Aids for a Better Workout

Staying fit and getting in shape has never been an easier task than it is today, considering the wide range of different types of exercise aids that are now available. Exercise aids are different types of tools that can be used to help you in your training goals. They provide you with a set of options for exercises that you would not otherwise have if you just exercised on your own. Many of these aids are also portable and can be included in a variety of different exercises, meaning that they're versatile as well.

1. Bosu

The bosu, which stands for "both sides up," is one of the latest exercise aids to sweep the market and national attention. It's very common in most gyms at this point, and the small size of this device makes it a great choice for a home gym setup or even for someone who wants to pack up her exercise equipment for travel as well.

The bosu is designed with two sides, both of which can be oriented upward for your use in different exercises. One side is a rounded, squishy section that resembles the top portion of an exercise ball. That portion is mounted to a flat base. By placing either side down on the ground and standing or sitting on the other side, you'll give yourself a challenging balance exercise that makes any exercise a bit more challenging.

2. TRX Suspension Trainer

The TRX Suspension Trainer is an important exercise tool, particularly for those people who do not have their own gym or gym membership to make use of. The Suspension Trainer is a device that is designed to attach to the ceiling. Support systems hang down from above you as you work out, and you can place your arms, legs and waist in strapped supports. This allows you to hang from the ceiling in various positions as you workout. By adding in this suspension element to your exercises, you can complete a wide range of different types of activities that you might not otherwise be able to do.

3. Stability Ball

A stability ball is a great tool to help enhance your exercise program. Also commonly referred to as an exercise ball, this exercise aid is a large, soft ball that can be used to sit on or lean against. You can replace it where you might otherwise include an exercise bench in your activity. Many people find that using a stability ball instead of an exercise bench is a great way to incorporate a slight balance challenge into their activities. This is also a softer surface that provides less of an impact and less resistance for your workouts as well.

These and other exercise aids can help to benefit your workouts by increasing your exercise options, providing added or diminished resistance and incorporating other elements into the types of exercise that you already do.
